This position is responsible for statewide fire service testing, certification program coordination, database development and maintenance, fire training coordination, financial and programmatic monitoring and analysis, procurement/purchasing, expenditure tracking and reconciliation, Certifying Officer program management, developing and maintaining office administrative procedures, correspondence and record-keeping, meeting coordinator/transcriber, and other special projects that are administrative in nature

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of administrative functions necessary to support the operations of a business, such as personnel, purchasing and inventory, accounts payable/receivable, and financial monitoring.
Working knowledge of techniques used in reconciliation of accounts.
Working knowledge in monitoring expenditures to ensure accurate budget.
Skill in the use of computers for maintaining financial data and for maintaining customer information, word processing, or similar office activities.
Ability to comprehend, interpret, apply, and explain regulations, bargaining contracts, rules, and instructions.
Ability to prepare reports, memoranda, and correspondence related to work assignments.
Ability to determine the need to revise procedures and instructions and to draft changes.
Ability to assess situations accurately and to take prompt, effective action.
Ability to make arithmetic computations using fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

- Valid Alaska driver's license is required for this position
- The Bureau has access to department fleet vehicles that may not be available for staff use when needed. Mileage reimbursement is available when a personal vehicle is used for work-related matters. Current automotive insurance must be in place prior to use of a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the state.
- There will be air travel to conduct bureau and council business required under AS 18.70.020 and AS 18.70.340 and for other position specific training opportunities.
BACKGROUND CHECK
This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
