SUMMARY:
As the Facilities Maintenance and Mechanic, you are a key part of our employees’ satisfaction and comfort and in maintaining the overall aesthetics and curb appeal of our facilities and grounds in our Theodore, Alabama distribution campus as well as maintaining our logistics equipment in working order. This is a hands-on position where you will be performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the preventive maintenance, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, facilities, equipment, trucks, forklifts, and fixtures, including but not limited to automotive/mechanical, carpentry, glazing, locksmithing, painting, flooring, roofing, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, limited heating/air conditioning-climate control, and janitorial duties. You will initiate and maintain preventative maintenance schedules, and a spare parts program, as well as obtain bids and oversee contractors when necessary. The ideal candidate will be personable, technically, and mechanically skilled with a keen eye for detail, an ability to learn new skills quickly, a curiosity for how things work, and a passion for working with their hands.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facility Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the preventive maintenance, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, facilities, equipment, trucks, forklifts, and fixtures, including but not limited to carpentry, glazing, locksmithing, painting, flooring, roofing, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, limited heating/air conditioning-climate control, and janitorial duties.
- Develop and manage Facilities schedule and work assignments.
- Coordinate maintenance services and tasks with appropriate department personnel in which maintenance services tasks will be performed
- Ensure that outside contractors/vendors’ work is supervised and properly completed based on contracts/work orders.
· Collaborate with a team of workers and other professionals during renovations and facility expansions.
· Complete regularly assigned maintenance tasks, such as preventative maintenance schedules for equipment and building upkeep.
· Evaluate, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, climate control, and HVAC systems in buildings.
· Repair structures, machines, and equipment using tools such as saws, hammers, hoists, wrenches, and drills and ensure work is done correctly as well as safely
· Perform maintenance repairs on general equipment
· Assure that jobs specified on maintenance requests and work orders are completed satisfactorily and in a timely manner.

· Work with all facility vendors for services such as, but not limited to, HVAC, retention pond cleaning, waste removal, irrigation system, landscaping, etc.
· Maintains open communication and provides constructive feedback to team members in order to ensure the facility's continuous provision of quality care
· Demonstrates professional conduct, concern, respect, and compassion toward all co-workers, employees, vendors, contractors, visitors, etc., and is a good representative of BendPak, Inc.
· Participates in, contributes to, and initiates facility improvement activities
· Uses a variety of hand tools and operates machinery
· Keeps work area clean and tidy upon completion of jobs.
· Ensures all tools and equipment are securely put away and stored securely upon completion of jobs and at the end of the workday.
· Maintains up-to-date inventory of all Facility tools and equipment.
· Tend to preventive maintenance. You'll safeguard equipment and fixtures with regular tune-ups, helping equipment last longer and minimizing costly repairs.
· Respond to service requests when maintenance issues arise, collaborating with teammates and prioritizing service requests to earn trust and build satisfaction.
· Keeps records of work performed.
· Notice the details. You'll walk the property daily, inspecting all areas for cleanliness and safety, and helping to maintain great curb appeal.
Mechanic Duties and Responsibilities:
· Performs preventative and routine maintenance on company vehicles, trucks, tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
· Performs basic diagnostics to identify the source of trouble and makes necessary adjustments to equipment for safe and efficient operation.
· Ensures proper and accurate documentation of all maintenance performed, completes reports in writing and electronically.
· Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents the work.
· Diagnose and repair equipment, including liquid propane, gas, and diesel engines, electric motors, transmissions, drive axles, differentials, hydraulic systems, brake systems, steering systems, electrical systems, lifting systems, etc.
· Rebuild and/or repair all components and systems in industrial material handling equipment and other related equipment.
· Properly block, chock, and chain equipment, and disassemble equipment as needed to facilitate major component removal and repair.
· Perform routine and operational maintenance to ensure that equipment continues to run according to manufacturer’s specifications.
· Perform advanced diagnostic troubleshooting and failure analysis on all components and systems.
· Perform equipment inspections to identify potential problems and safety concerns.
· Perform basic welding as necessary.
· Record maintenance and repair work performed by completing the necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
· Maintain necessary parts and supplies needed for timely repairs and job completion.
· Maintain company vehicle cleanliness and ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition; complete vehicle checklist as required.
· Building and assembling machines or mechanical components according to requirements.
· Inspecting machines, engines, transmissions, etc., and running diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
· Conducting repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
· Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
· Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems.
· Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components.
· Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery.
· Keep logs of work and report on issues.
· Maintain a culture of safety and participate in all safety meetings.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Minimum High school diploma or equivalent, College preferred, or Trade or Vocational School graduate.
· 3+ years’ hands-on experience in building maintenance.
· 3+ years’ hands-on experience working with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscape, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools).
· 3+ years of hands-on experience working on diesel, electrical, and liquid LPG fuel forklifts, diagnosing mechanical problems, repairs, and equipment rebuilds
· 3+ years of hands-on experience performing vehicle/forklift repair/maintenance.
· Knowledge of the use and operation of testing equipment, gauges, and tools associated with vehicle troubleshooting and repairs
· Knowledge of basic computer maintenance programs, and diagnostic systems
· Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines
· Familiarity with precision measurement instruments, oxygen/acetylene equipment, and lifting devices (bottle, floor, wheel, or transmission jacks, floor cranes, etc.) preferred.
· Able to frequently lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person.
· Ability to safely operate vehicles equipped with manual and automatic transmission.
· Strong PC skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general internet use.
· Knowledge of equipment set-up, functions, operating procedures, and preventative maintenance techniques.
· Ability to read instructions, maintenance manuals, drawings, and specifications.
· Good mechanical ability, knowledge, and use of good judgment.
· Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize tasks and maintain high levels of productivity without direct supervision.
· Experience in automated building systems software.
· Basic operations, tools, and terms used in one or more of the trades and other maintenance areas
· Shop math.
